Baroque Convent of Monte Mesma - Ameno

(10 min. by car from Orta)

Founded as a monastery at the beginning of the 17th century, the building still houses a small number of friars.
This enchanting place, built at almost 600 m above sea level, is well worth a visit.

The view across Lake Orta and its surrounding hills and mountains is breathtaking and in the building itself two beautiful little baroque cloisters have been perfectly preserved.

You can reach the Convento by car or (better!) on foot, walking near the shrines of the old Via Crucis (18th century) and through the beautiful woodland (it is a protected area).
